Over the last ten years, MIF has worked closely on many new shows with venues, festivals and other cultural organisations around the world. The financial and creative input from these partners helps to make many of our projects possible, and guarantees they have a life after the Festival has ended – our co-commissioners and co-producers generally go on to stage these shows after their premieres in Manchester, bringing them to an entirely new audience.
To give just one example from MIF15, Tree of Codes was commissioned by MIF with Park Avenue Armory in New York, FAENA ART in Miami, Paris Opera Ballet, Sadler’s Wells in London and European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017. Four of these five partners will themselves have staged Tree of Codes – taking a show that was made and premiered in Manchester far around the world.
Since the first Festival in 2007, we’ve collaborated with 50 commissioning partners on 47 different shows, which have travelled as far afield as Los Angeles, Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.
We’re building relationships with many new organisations at our next Festival, when we’re also continuing our fruitful partnerships with several past collaborators. Click here to learn more about MIF17.
