Do you live in Greater Manchester? Then we have an amazing opportunity for you! Festival in My House (FiMH) gives you the chance to host a micro-international Festival in your own home.

It’s simple: you come up with the idea and we’ll help you make it happen with a budget of £1,500. You don’t have to have experience creating this type of event before – we’re with you every step of the way.

We’re looking for…

  • Original ideas with a big ambition on an intimate scale that allow you to try something new
  • Ideas that embrace the adventurous spirit of Manchester International Festival
  • Ideas with an international link, large or small
  • Ideas that help you build skills in a particular area

Whatever your interest, whether it’s music, dance, drama or visual art, there’s really no limit except your imagination.

If you need inspiration, have a look back at our previous Festival in My House events. These special events have included inviting people to get involved in Pakistani wedding culture, discovering West Indian and African entertainment, partying with grime artists from Manchester and the Netherlands, and joining in a slam-poetry and story-telling festival.  Once submitted, your idea will be selected against the above criteria by a panel of former Festival in My House hosts and the MIF team.

Please note that for this round of FiMH, we’re currently only accepting applications from Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. If you don’t live in any of these places but have a great idea in the works – don’t worry! Applications for FiMH in Manchester will open on 31 March 2018.

One of the wonderful things about this project is that it’s primarily an opportunity for people who have never created an event like this before. If you’re an artist or producer you’re still welcome to apply but we would encourage you to do this in partnership with someone new who hasn’t done this sort of thing!

Ready to apply? Please download and complete the application form and email it to Rizwan Iqbal, MIF’s Community Producer at by Monday 30 April 2018.
