Etel Adnan (1925 - 2021, Lebanon)

Acknowledged as one of the foremost poets and essayists of her generation, Adnan wrote in English, Arabic and French. She has been painting since the 1960s, gaining international recognition since Documenta13, in 2012. Her vast output of writing, painting, drawing, tapestry, film, ceramics, and leporello artist books works were informed by her emotional and physical responses to landscapes, wars and displacement.
