Manchester-born musician and DJ Calum Lee – aka Paleman will debut his Live Show as part of the Dark Matter event series curated by Mary Anne Hobbs.
Paleman’s first performance of his new Live Show will combine his elegant electronics and jazz drumming.
To celebrate this special debut, MIF caught up with Calum at his studio in London to chat about his introduction to music, the experience of training at music school, and the parallels between jazz and contemporary electronic music that will shape his new live set.
Paleman is giving away a brand new, exclusive track for free download to accompany the launch of the new film, titled ‘Built From Papyrus’, which you can download from here.
The show takes place on 6 July at Gorilla in Manchester. Tickets are only £15 available from here. This show is one of eight gigs Mary Anne Hobbs has curated for her MIF17 series Dark Matter.
Other artists performing are: Clark, Holly Herndon, SUNN O))), The Haxan Cloak, Kojey Radical, Levelz and Colin Stetson. Each artist is working with Stuart Bailes on a custom light show to transform their venue spaces. Pioneering independent Manchester based DJs support at each event – Walton, Herron, Akkord and Demdike Stare.
