Kickstart Construction Training Academies

ARE YOU AGED 19–24, UNEMPLOYED AND RECEIVING UNIVERSAL CREDIT? DO YOU LIVE IN MANCHESTER? ARE YOU INTERESTED IN KICKSTARTING YOUR CAREER IN CONSTRUCTION?

Manchester is building The Factory, a new home for creativity in the heart of the city. The Factory will present new work by the world’s most exciting artists – and will be home to The Factory Academy, which will help people from all backgrounds to start new careers in the creative industries.

The Factory Academy’s Training Academies are a new series of training programmes designed to introduce young people to the creative industries, gain confidence and learn new skills. They’re fully funded, with no cost to participants, and are open to anyone in Greater Manchester aged 19-24 and on Universal Credit.

Our next Training Academy, Kickstart Construction, takes place from 25 October - 12 November and is presented in partnership with Laing O’ Rourke and Ryder Architecture and other companies who are working to bring The Factory to life. Upon completion of the Academy you will be eligible to apply for a 6 month paid Kickstart role with organisations working on the design and construction of The Factory.

Kickstart Construction is perfect for anybody who wants to:

– Develop new skills for working in construction

– Discover what goes on behind the scenes at an innovative construction project

– Get first-hand guidance and instruction from industry experts

– Work on a special project designed specifically for the Academy

– Know how a project like The Factory comes to life

Who runs Kickstart Construction Training Academies?

Factory Futures Training Academies are created and run by The Factory Academy, which was launched in 2018 by Manchester International Festival (MIF) to deliver training for people looking to start new careers in the cultural and creative industries. The Factory Academy will eventually be based at The Factory.

Who can apply?

Kickstart Construction is open to all Greater Manchester residents aged 19-24 who are eligible for Universal Credit. You don’t need any experience whatsoever – the programme is open to anyone who’s interested in starting a new career.
