ARE YOU AGED 19+, UNEMPLOYED, ON UNIVERSAL CREDIT OR EARNING LESS THAN £18,525? DO YOU LIVE IN GREATER MANCHESTER? ARE YOU INTERESTED IN STARTING YOUR CAREER IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES?

Manchester is building The Factory, a new home for creativity in the heart of the city. The Factory will present new work by the world’s most exciting artists – and will be home to The Factory Academy, which will help people from all backgrounds to start new careers in the creative industries.

The Factory Academy’s Training Academies are designed to introduce young people to the creative industries, gain confidence and learn new skills. They’re fully funded, with no cost to participants, and are open to anyone in Greater Manchester aged 19+, Unemployed, on Universal Credit or earning less than £18,525.

At the end of this training, you’ll be guaranteed an interview for a role with the Factory Academy team; helping to organise and co-ordinate programmes and workshops like this one.

When does the next Academy take place?

Our next Training Academy takes place from Monday 13 June – Friday 1 July.

What will you learn?

Discover what goes on behind the scenes, get first-hand advice from industry experts, and work on a special project designed specifically for the Academy.

At the end of this Training Academy we’ll be looking to recruit an Apprentice to join the Factory Academy Team. They will help plan, organise and co-ordinate Factory Academy programmes and workshops. Upon completion of the Academy you will be guaranteed an interview for this role.

Who can apply?

This Training Academy is open to all Greater Manchester residents aged 19+ who are currently unemployed, eligible for Universal Credit or earning less than £18,525. You don’t need any experience whatsoever – the programme is open to anyone who’s interested in starting a new career in the creative industries.

We’ll be another training academies later this summer with more details to be announced soon.

What our students say...

'The main aspect of the academy I liked was that it allowed me to think about myself and what I have to offer in a way in which I have never done before; identifying what my core skills are and how to apply them in the creative industry. I also liked the opportunity it provided me with to meet so many great, like-minded people and connect with them on a professional and deeper level'
