MIF Sounds
We’re offering support of up to £1,000 for 10 creatives based in Greater Manchester who are involved in music, whether professional or amateur – musicians and DJs, producers and promoters, even label owners and managers. Simply send us a proposal mapping out why you’d like to receive this support (details are below) and we’ll consider your pitch.
Maybe you need help to make or complete a recording. Perhaps you’re a label wanting to promote some new releases. Maybe you’re hoping to present a socially distanced gig for a small but perfectly formed audience. Or perhaps a little financial help will go a long way towards giving you the headspace just to make new music.
Whatever your plans and ambitions, we want to hear from you – regardless of whether or not your proposal is inspired by Covid-19 or entirely unrelated to it. If you’re awarded MIF Sounds support, we’ll present and promote your work online and/or live as part of our Festival Square programme at MIF21 next summer.
Please apply below and pitch your idea (up to 500 words) or upload a video (up to two minutes) by 12 noon on Friday 2 October. Your pitch should include details of:
- Who you are, including links to your previous work
- What you’d like to do and how you’d plan to do it
- How you would spend or allocate your budget of up to £1,000 (a rough idea is fine; you don’t need to create a detailed budget at this point)
- Any practical support you might need to fulfil your proposal
- Your contact details, including your home postcode
You must be at least 18 years of age and resident in Greater Manchester to apply.
While we’ll give you as much help as we can to realise your idea, the Covid-19 situation means that we’re unable to provide our usual levels of producing or technical support. Please bear this in mind when submitting your proposal.
A panel of industry experts and the MIF artistic team will review the applications and select those that will receive support.
If your application is successful, we’ll let you know by 30 October 2020.
