Talking Points is a new initiative that was launched in MIF19 where conversations about the themes related to MIF19 commissions were hosted throughout the Festival by residents from North Manchester. Locations for discussions included pubs, libraries and food halls and discussion included everything from power to protest and change.
A special one-off Talking Points will take place at the Whitworth Art Gallery on Sun 15 September at 2pm in the specially created parliament in Ibrahim Mahama’s MIF19 commission, Parliament of Ghosts. The conversation theme of power takes its inspiration from Ibrahim’s powerful artwork. Come and discuss power with fellow citizens across the city.
All welcome and admission free.
Talking Points was born in the lead up to MIF19 as a response to the Festival’s main themes, ideas and how they relate to our lives today. Presented in collaboration with residents of North Manchester, who co-hosted these friendly and informal discussions, Talking Points encouraged us to come together and explore some of the Festival’s key concepts with fellow citizens from all corners of the city – and beyond, with over 100 people joining the discussion.
