Your Safety

Welcome back to MIF

Following the latest announcement about the delay to the step 4 of the Government COVID-19 roadmap, we’re pleased to reassure audiences that MIF21 is able to go ahead as planned.

Our preparations for a COVID-safe Festival are consistent with the Step 3 government regulations that have been in place since 17 May. Events will take place safely indoors and outdoors with Step 3 compliant measures in place. We’ll continue to review Government guidance throughout and comply with all regulations in place at the time of the event.

The safety of our audiences, artists, volunteers and staff is our highest priority. As well as following all government and industry guidelines, we’re working closely with specialist safety consultants to ensure all our venues are COVID-safe and secure for everyone.

Access

MIF aims to meet everyone’s access requirements. We create accessible performances wherever possible and work hard to ensure our venues are as accessible as they can be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our preparations for a COVID-safe Festival are consistent with the Step 3 government regulations that have been in place since 17 May and the safety and wellbeing of audiences, staff, artists and volunteers have been at the heart of our planning from the outset. We’ll continue to review Government guidance throughout and comply with all regulations in place at the time of the event.

The safety and wellbeing of the public and staff are our priority and we strive to create a safe environment for all.

Measures include:

  • Limited visitor numbers and tickets
  • Ability to book individually or in groups of two, three or four by one household or bubble
  • COVID-19 compliant seating (1m+)
  • COVID-19 compliant entry and exit to venues
  • The wearing of face coverings (unless exempt)
  • One-way systems
  • Sanitising stations and enhanced cleaning schedules
  • Personal Protective Equipment for staff and volunteers

Full details of our COVID-19 safety measures for each event will be sent to ticket holders in a pre-event email at least 24 hours before the event.

All venues have been tailored to accommodate safe numbers for the space available and to take into account all aspects of the event from arrival through to departure.

At seated indoor venues, household/bubbles will automatically be distanced from others (1m+) by our Box Office system. At standing events, such as exhibitions, capacity has been set to enable people to have plenty of space to exercise safe distancing in line with Government guidelines.

Tickets can be booked by individuals or in groups of two, three, or four (provided they are from one household or support bubble).

We continue to monitor Government guidance, but we are currently planning for COVID-19 compliant (Step 3) Festival. Our emphasis is on providing a safe Festival for the widest possible audience to enjoy.

If an event is cancelled or rescheduled by MIF due to COVID-19, you will be contacted with the option to exchange*, donate the ticket value, or receive a full refund. Payments by MIF for cancelled, rescheduled or resold tickets will be made via the original method of payment.

Yes. We are required to collect the details of all visitors (over 16). You will be asked to scan a venue QR code on the NHS COVID-19 app upon entry to MIF21 venues. If you do not have a smart phone you will be asked to sign in instead. Please help us to keep the rest of the audience, our staff and artists safe, by co-operating with our staff about this.

We are currently planning for a Covid-compliant Festival consistent with the Step 3 government regulations that have been in place since 17 May which means that face coverings are required (unless you are exempt) in indoor public spaces, including theatres, galleries and libraries. We also recommend that face coverings are worn when not seated at outdoor venues. Please help us to keep the rest of the audience, our staff and artists safe, by co-operating with our staff about this.

Most of our international artists have been planning their work remotely. Visual arts exhibitions by international artists will be able to take place regardless of restrictions to travel. However, we continue to keep an eye on the travel situation for performers and review any impacts on a show by show basis.

A rich online offer will provide a window into the Festival wherever audiences are - and includes live streams and work created especially for the digital realm. Sign up to our e-newsletter here, to keep up to date with all our announcements.

Yes, see the details on our MIF21 access performance information page. We will also have a wide range of accessible public artwork on show throughout the city, as well as a selection of online access performances.
