The Manchester cholera epidemic of the 1830s is the unlikely inspiration for the first major UK project by one of the world’s most playful and provocative art collectives. Here at the invitation of Contact Young Curators, five emerging local artists brought together by MIF and Contact, Tokyo’s Chim↑Pom are building a temporary brewery beneath Manchester Victoria Station – and you can explore it during MIF19.

As well as the daily brewery tours throughout MIF19, Contact Young Curators and Chim↑Pom are hosting an anarchic performance-art pub quiz in the subterranean brewery, fuelled by beer brewed on site exclusively for the Festival. We can’t promise a picture round or a big cash jackpot at this anything-goes evening – but if you come prepared to expect the unexpected, you won’t be disappointed…

A Drunk Pandemic Quiz Night has been devised by Contact Young Curators, five emerging local artists brought together by MIF and Contact, who have been invited by Chim↑Pom to create and present a programme of special events to accompany A Drunk Pandemic.
