This summer, Manchester International Festival (MIF) is bringing together leading international artists to present major new works in venues across Greater Manchester over 18 extraordinary days (4–21 July 2019).

But that’s not all! Year-round, we invite local residents to host their own micro-international festivals in their houses or neighbourhoods as part of our Festival in My House series – and in May, we’ll be in Whitworth Park…

In 2017, Dr Erinma Bell and Raymond Bell invited people into their Moss Side home for AFROJAM, a Festival in My House celebration of African and West Indian culture. It was such a success that on Saturday 25 May, we’ll be reprising it on a much bigger scale in Whitworth Park for our first ever Festival in My Neighbourhood.

AFROJAM Festival is an outdoor event in Whitworth Park – please come prepared for all weather conditions. There are no seats at the event, but you’re welcome to bring blankets to sit on. Food will be available on site, and you’re also welcome to bring your own picnic (please note: no glass or alcohol will be allowed on site). Tickets are free but must be booked in advance, and we cannot guarantee entry for any latecomers arriving after 2pm. For live event updates on the day, please check MIF’s social media platforms.
