MIF hosts regular drop-in sessions on Zoom where artists and creatives can come together to share experiences and ideas during lockdown. The drop-ins are free, and all artists and creatives are welcome.
On Thursday 3 December at 6pm, visual artist Neville Gabie and MIF Creative Director Mark Ball will be talking about The Factory, the world-class cultural space currently being built as the future year-round home of MIF – and specifically about the new artwork that Neville is creating with the workers who are building this future Manchester landmark. Stop by and say hi!
How to take part
You can book a place in an Artist Drop-in conversation through the Book now button on the right – they’re absolutely free and not subject to any additional fees. All you need is an internet connection and an account with the online videoconferencing service Zoom: you can sign up for free at their website.
If you have any questions or need any support with Zoom, please email creativeengagement@mif.co.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Neville Gabie has an established national and international reputation for both his studio-based practice and his extensive commissioned projects. With a background in sculpture, his practice also now includes performance-based work, film and photography – and central to this practice is a response to specific landscapes and communities of people. The format, scale and media of his work evolve through a sustained and close relationship to ‘place’ that is centred on his approach to collective endeavour, often through collaborations with artists, writers, musicians, scientific researchers and members of the public. His work can be found in numerous collections, including Tate, Arts Council England and The Olympic Museum, Switzerland.
