If you’re an artist or freelancer who wants a chat or support as a result of the current situation surrounding COVID-19, we’ve arranged online drop-in sessions.

Our artist and freelance creatives drop-in is now every Thursday at 2pm and continues to be a space for people to come together and share their experiences and ideas.

Thursday 4 June – 2 – 3pm – MIF’s weekly Artist Drop-In session will be joined by artists Ivan Blackstock and Yandass Ndlovu. Keep posted to this page, we’ll add the zoom link soon.

Born & raised Londoner, Ivan Michael Blackstock began as an established working dancer and went on to work on music videos, advertising and dance productions with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys (World tour), 2012 Olympics Ceremony, ZooNation, and Dancing with the Stars USA.  After establishing a successful commercial career, Ivan went on to create his own artistic work and this led to the creation of the critically acclaimed production ‘A Harlem Dream’ at The Young Vic, where Ivan was formerly appointed Associate Artist. His work can be described as intense, thought-provoking and political dance theatre.

Ivan is now Founder and Artistic Director of CRXSS PLATFXRM. An artistic agency celebrating what’s next in Street Culture showcasing and platforming some of the most exciting Street Culture global talent changing the cultural landscape through collaboration, curation and delivering high profile partnership events and consultancy for major cultural institutions and brands including Nike, Red Bull, Greenwich Peninsula, Southbank Centre and Ace Hotel.

Most recently Ivan Michael Blackstock was awarded breakthrough cultural excellence in Film and Video for the inaugural Nowness Awards 2019.

Yandass Ndlovu is an extraordinary dancer, actor and choreographer from Manchester, she graduated with First Class BA Hons Dance and Performance from Arden School of Theatre (2019) and her career has catapulted to work with world-class artists and directors since.  She performed in MIF15/17 as part of FlexN and in MIF19 in Alphabus, listed as one to watch by the press in MIF19.  She was commissioned by MIF for a micro international Festival in My House …and Yours with her collaborator Sam Arbor, featuring homegrown dance and music culture for a live segment.  In 2019 she starred in the film – Icaria by Emmy-nominated director Fx Goby, “I was particularly struck by the energy and grace of Yandass, she brings great sensitivity and emotion.”.

Yandass other credits include Macbeth and Jubilee, Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester; Birth (Orchid & Q and Q) World Health Organisation, Geneva.
