MIF hosts a weekly drop-in session on Zoom where artists and creatives can come together to share experiences and ideas during lockdown. Taking place every Thursday at 2pm, the drop-ins are free, and all artists and creatives are welcome.
On Thursday 6 August, we’ll be joined by theatre-makers David K.S. Tse and Linda Brogan. Stop by and say hi!
David K.S. Tse is an actor, writer, director and activist. He was the Founder and Artistic Director of Yellow Earth Theatre, where his 13-year tenure won the Windrush, Pearl and Sainsbury’s Theatre Awards, and of CAS (now Chinese Arts Now). He won the Bi’an Screenwriter Award for Take Me Away; has directed dramas for BBC Radio 4; and has appeared in TV dramas including Devs, Chimerica and Tokyo Trial, as well as the BBC documentary The British Chinese. Stratford East recently commissioned him to write ‘Fong Lee’ for 846, a new audio play responding to the murder of George Floyd. When theatres reopen, he’ll appear in Life of Pi at Wyndham’s Theatre in the West End.
Linda Brogan is a multi-award-winning playwright who has previously been a writer in residence at venues as varied as the National Theatre, Contact, the Whitworth and Askham Grange Prison. Her works include What’s in the Cat (Contact & Royal Court Theatre, London), which won a BBC Northern Exposure Award, and Speechless (co-written with Polly Teale), which won an Edinburgh Fringe First Award. Her recent work uncovering the history of the Reno, a legendary funk and soul club in Moss Side, led to her winning the Outstanding Contribution award at the Manchester Culture Awards 2019.
