It’s a Swing Ting Thing! The legendary anything-goes club night has been much-missed in the city during the pandemic, and we were thrilled to welcome the crew back overground for a four-hour takeover of Afropop, dancehall, soul, UK funky and much more, with live performances and hosting from Fox, Lovescene and Thai-Chi Rosè.

Balraj Samrai, Swing Ting’s co-founder, was also in the Square earlier that day, teaming up with Farah Ahmad for a live collaboration of work supported by MIF Sounds. There was also downtempo electronica from Jade Parker, boldly brilliant Manchester rap from OneDa, smooth soul from Femi – and a whole host of fantastic acts from the Daytimers stable, blending South Asian sounds from then and now with influences from far beyond.

We would like to thank Therme Group, Co-op, JW Lees, Hawkins\Brown, Buro Happold and Civic Engineers for their contributions to Festival Square.
