Festival Square July 6 KSR image

It was soul and R&B night in the Square – and we were thrilled to welcome Manchester’s very own honey-voiced soul sensation [K S R] for a special live set (a late addition in place of TYSON, who was sadly unable to join us due to illness). And for dessert, something sweet: a set of chilled neo-soul and R&B from DJ Katbrownsugar

Earlier, Ladies Music Pub talked tunes in the latest episode of Records of Reflection, Ellen Beth Abdi brought her lyrical electronic soul to the Square for an early-evening set, and SOFT LAD was on hand with what sole member Sophie Galpin calls ‘music for a queer community in search of a new icon’. The day opened with musicians from nearby Chetham’s School of Music performing works by Bach, Vivaldi and others, followed by sets from Audrey Hall and Mabon Jones & Couch Opera.

We would like to thank Therme Group, Co-op, JW Lees, Hawkins\Brown, Buro Happold and Civic Engineers for their contributions to Festival Square.
