DJ, broadcaster, label boss, tastemaker – BBC Radio 1Xtra and 6 Music stalwart Jamz Supernova knows where the most exciting new music can be found. We handed Jamz the Festival Square keys for the evening of Friday 9 July, and she brought with her Bristol-based rapper-DJ Grove, fresh from their Queer + Black EP, and hotly-tipped junglist Nia Archives.

Before Jamz took over, Krin fused techno beats with ancient drum rhythms in the early-evening slot, right after an hour of music and conversation with Girl Gang Manchester in our Records of Reflection series. And following the latest Midday Meditation (also Fri 2, Mon 5, Wed 7 & Mon 12 July), Reform Radio and Thirty Pound Gentleman presented sets from soulful singer-songwriter SUTTY, beatmaker Inka, sound experimenter KUPI and DJ-producer Joe Roche.

We would like to thank Therme Group, Co-op, JW Lees, Hawkins\Brown, Buro Happold and Civic Engineers for their contributions to Festival Square.
