They put their boots on our ground
I put my roots in their ground
I put my truth in this sound
I spit my truth and it’s Brown
A bracing and emotional live music show, The Long Goodbye is an electrifying journey into our here and now – a closeup look at the breakup of a toxic relationship with the country you call home.
Riz Ahmed is a musician, storyteller, award-winning actor and activist, and the star of films such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Venom, Four Lions and HBO’s The Night Of. As a solo artist and a member of the Swet Shop Boys, his incendiary releases include “Post 9/11 Blues”, Cashmere and “Mogambo”. Directed by Kirsty Housley (Tao of Glass) and performed by Riz Ahmed, The Long Goodbye is a Manchester world premiere.
The Long Goodbye is the latest in Manchester International Festival’s series of pre-Factory events, showcasing the kind of work we’ll be premiering at The Factory, MIF’s future year-round home. mif.co.uk/thefactory
